Of all the Morros in San Luis Obispo County, Black Hill is the easiest to summit. This 661-foot volcanic peak in Morro Bay State Park can be reached by hiking 0.6 miles round trip up a dirt single track with 190 feet of elevation gain and views over the city of Morro Bay. For my guest that are looking for more of a hike to the summit, you can walk there from the Airbnb studio leaving from the front entrance heading south towards Ridgeway Street, turn left and walk straight up approximately one mile. Best sunset location in Morro Bay.

5 minutes drive from our guesthouse to the parking lot with great views of the city, the Bay, and the local countryside. There is one challenging part to getting there, an unmarked service road in the middle of Morro Bay Golf course. If you are coming from our guesthouse go south on Main Street, take the first left, right after you enter Morro Bay State Park, go up the hill and as soon as you pass the Golf Course Clubhouse, take the left hand service road up between the fairways and follow it up the hill to a parking area. It is about a 10 minute hike to the top and gorgeous views.
