Spend the day by the ocean. The drive over the Santa Lucia mountains to the coast is beautiful.
You can watch giant elephant seals hangout on the beach (from the safety of a boardwalk). Okay, that doesn't sound like much--but they are massive and loud and I swear it is cool to see. It is a popular tourist destination.

Morro Rock is a stunning site to see. You can also kayak in the bay or get on a boat to go whale watching. Also the clam chowder at Giovanni's is great.

Absolutely beautiful drive to a beautiful place. Recommend making a day of it with Cambria, Heart Castle, and ending the day here (or just stop here as you continue up the coast into Big Sir). In the little town, there is Ragged Point Restaurant, a gift shop, a place for ice cream, and a gas station. Also, the Ragged Point Cliffside Trail is accessible from here.

Absolutely beautiful drive to a beautiful place. Recommend making a day of it with Cambria, Heart Castle, and ending the day here (or just stop here as you continue up the coast into Big Sir). In the little town, there is Ragged Point Restaurant, a gift shop, a place for ice cream, and a gas station. Also, the Ragged Point Cliffside Trail is accessible from here.
