Built in 1672, the Wooden Church in Moisei, Maramures, hosted a monk church with an important role for the Romanians in Maramures, after the destruction of the religious center from Peri Monastery in 1660.
Due to the celebration of Saint Mary at this monastery, the pilgrimages here were recorded in 1873. They have contributed both to the fame of this place in the XIX century and the XX century and at saving the wooden church in times of crashing. In 1911, a new church was built near the wall of the small wooden church.
Black Spring Monastery
