Welcome to your vacation bungalow in the heart of The Land of 1000 Hills! This private home studio was thoughtfully designed by NAFASI Interiors for an extremely pleasant stay. The studio has one queen bed, a sitting area with sofa and chair, a kitchenette/working area, and a bathroom with a hot spa-like shower. It was all recently renovated in May 2018!

At The Art House you have the comforts of having your own space, with the community feel and friendliness of home! Patrick and I are excited to warmly welcome visitors from all over. I have carefully designed The Art House to feel it's most comfortable for you. I've tested every mattress and pillow here for a good night's sleep. I've created art to add energy. I've selected warm tile to soften the bathroom experience. We added warm lighting, candles, a down comforter, books about Rwanda, and many small touches you can't find in other places. Come try it out!

You have the whole Art House to yourselves as well as the pictured outside seating area closer to our house. Feel free to use the courtyard for volleyball, badminton, or the fire pit as well! There's also a ton of driveway if you want to park a car or motorcycle.

We have a dog, Nami! She will usually just be following me wherever I am (or near food, that definitely trumps me.) She'll stay out of your way, except to greet you every time you come home of course!

Our neighborhood is Kimihurura (or Kimi for short.) It is the best neighborhood in Kigali in my humble opinion! It feels very suburban and quiet, yet it is full of restaurants, cafes, shops, dancing! -all hidden in converted houses turned businesses. It is super safe. Our street is paved, lined with sidewalks and street lights, right near a really lovely park and an ATM. It is also centrally located in Kigali, right near every neighborhood and walking distance from The Convention Center. We love it!

I'm an interior designer living in Kigali, Rwanda and loving life! I am from New York and I went to school there as well. I then moved to Tanzania for three years with the Peace Corps. I started my interior design business, NAFASI Interiors in Washington DC where I first started with Airbnb as well! After 5 years, I moved to Rwanda with my husband, Patrick and we've been here since 2017. What a beautiful country! As a designer I also love traveling and staying in a home versus a hotel. Nothing is better than feeling at home on vacation, popping a bottle of wine and enjoying the scenery with your favorite travel partner. Karibu Kigali!

Unless we are out of town during your stay, we are happy to hang or give you your privacy as much as you'd like! We are both very friendly Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Our doors are open for a chat, a recommendation, or a cheesy dad joke. I work from home most days from our home office, but you can also ask questions to Claudette (who works here during the day) in case you need anything!
