    If your place or belongings are damaged by a guest or their invitee during an Airbnb stay, you may be eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,000,000 USD under Airbnb’s Host Guarantee.

    Here’s how to request reimbursement for property damage:

    1. Gather evidence of the damage: This may include photos, videos, estimates, and/or receipts.
    2. Contact the guest and Airbnb: Within 14 days of the guest’s checkout or before your next guest checks in (whichever is earlier), you must notify the guest and Airbnb of the damage. The Resolution Center is the preferred way to provide this notice, but you can also notify the guest and Airbnb by sending a message to the guest on the Airbnb app clearly stating your intent to file a reimbursement request with Airbnb for damages the guest caused. The guest will have 72 hours to respond to your request.
    3. Get reimbursed or involve Airbnb: If the guest agrees to pay the full amount requested and sends the payment, Airbnb will process the payment and send it to you. If the guest is unwilling to pay the full amount requested, you may be eligible for reimbursement under Airbnb's Host Guarantee.

      After the guest declines your request for full payment through the Resolution Center, follow the prompts to request reimbursement from Airbnb. You must submit the Host Guarantee Payment Request Form and documentation of the damages within 30 days of the date of loss. Once submitted, a Support Ambassador will contact you and resolve the request in accordance with the Host Guarantee Terms and Conditions.

      Note: Once you involve Airbnb, all communication by Airbnb regarding a Host Guarantee claim will be done via email.

    Things to consider

    • Airbnb’s Host Guarantee is not an insurance policy, and not all property damage caused by guests is within its terms. Hosts who want more protection are encouraged to purchase personal insurance that will cover property damage not protected by Airbnb’s Host Guarantee.
    • Airbnb’s Host Guarantee doesn’t apply to hosts who offer accommodations through Airbnb Travel, LLC, hosts in mainland China, hosts in Japan, or hosts of experiences or adventures.
    • Airbnb’s Host Guarantee doesn’t provide protection for bodily injury or property damage to guests or others—a host’s legal responsibility for those may be covered under Host Protection Insurance.
