I’m DJ Jigue, an Afro-Cuban DJ and producer. I’ve dedicated my life to sharing my passion for Cuban music with the rest of the world. In 2015, I started Guampara Music, the first independent label for urban music in Cuba—no easy feat in this country. I’ve been featured in music documentaries and major music publications such as Vice, The Fader, and Pitchfork, and have traveled internationally to share my music.

We’ll start at the my home studio, then head to the house of a vinyl lover who has been building his collection for 40 years. It's one of the only places to find authentic vinyl in Havana.

This experience was very educational as Dj Jigue is a Cuban music historian. The extent of his knowledge was insightful and delightful. We even got to visit Cuba’s biggest vinyl collector and was able to purchase hard to find records(Cuban vinyl was never distributed outside the island and rarely leaves the island unless you find yourself in this scenario).
His translator was amazing and the hospitality was by far the best I have ever experienced. We were also invited to a night club where my boyfriend got to perform his own music(which was his first time performing abroad and a dream come true). I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of vinyl or music history. Absolutely amazing. Very friendly and hospitable!!!

Super unique experience! Learned about the difference of listening to music digitally vs through a vinyl record. Spent time with a talented musician, who’s travelled the world and produced his own documentary (which is playing all over the US).

This was a wonderful and unique experience in Havana. If you are even mildly curious about the history of Cuban music, this will illuminate a subject that is unfortunately not well documented outside of the region. The information was supplemented with songs played on LP’s, and visual aids. Jorge did a fantastic job of translating to those of us who are not fluent in Spanish, and he is clearly knowledgeable on the material as well. A must do for any fan of history and music.
